Meet Our Instructors
Paula Joines
Paula Joines has directed productions for Wilkes Playmakers such as The Outsiders, Where the Lilies Bloom, Anne of Green Gables, Holes, Our Town, Beautiful Star-An Appalachian Nativity, It’s A Wonderful Life, Dairy Queen Days, An Evening of Culture- Faith County 2 and The Trip to Bountiful. Throughout her years in community theatre, Paula has portrayed both Ouiser and Truvy in Steel Magnolias, Annie Nations in Foxfire, Sylvia in the play of the same name, Agnes in The Shadow Box, Abby in Arsenic and Old Lace, Kate Keller in All My Sons and numerous others. Paula holds an Associate Degree in Fine Arts in Theatre as well as Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Speech Language Pathology with a minor in Theatre. She has taught theatre classes for all ages for several years. Paula is a retired Speech Language Pathologist, having worked in the state early intervention program as well as Alleghany county school system. She is also certified in the areas of Birth-Kindergarten as well as Theatre Arts.
Erica Marsh
Erica Marsh has directed Wilkes Playmakers productions such as Peter Pan (2016) and Arsenic and Old Lace (2017). She has been acting for over 11 years. Some of her favorite roles include portraying Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Martha in Arsenic and Old Lace, Cinderella in Cinderella Wore Combat Boots and Mrs. Gibbs in Our Town. Erica began teaching theatre classes for Wilkes Playmakers in 2015, including teaching in two summer theatre camps. Erica graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Elementary Education in December 2017 is now teaching 5th grade science and social studies.
